Keep Me Belfast!

I very recently came across this list of reason to stay in Belfast forever and I am sold!

1. Because the locals are great craic.

They’re wrongfully thought of as being a rowdy bunch (and they can be occasionally). But most of the time, you’re welcomed in with open arms.

2. Because there are so many bars here.

You can find the full list here, but The SpaniardThe Dirty Onion and Cloth Ear are all top watering holes in the Cathedral Quarter.

It’s pretty cool when your local dates back to 1826.

5. Because there’s amazing architecture everywhere.

This is Custom House Square, another example of Belfast’s Victorian heritage. There’s usually some sort of festival or event on in the Square (another reason to love living here).

6. And the insides of buildings are beautiful too.

They film The Fall in the city, and countless other productions around Northern Ireland. This is Ballintoy Beach… 10 points if you know where it appears in Game Of Thrones.

Yes, St George’s Markets have all the lovely local produce from around Northern Ireland (and some excellent breakfasts), but you can also buy a proper farmers cap, see some live music AND be totally sheltered from the rain (it’s an indoor market!).

21. Because you’ll never go hungry here.

If anything, there are too many restaurants to choose from. Alley Cat is your man if you want a big old burger with plenty of fries.

Although Victoria Square might look like a spaceship from the outside, it’s actually because there’s a glass globe inside you can climb to the top of for a panorama of the city.

Most of the bars (like Ollies) will have live music during the week, Limelight and the Union do “medium” sized gigs from well known acts. There are occasional acts on at The Empire ,and the Odyssey is where you get the musical heavyweights. The Waterfront Hallhosts classical musicians, shows, and musicals. And the Grand Opera House is the oldest theatre in Belfast.

I really do love it here in Belfast, I certainly would not be against a permanent move!

Loving Him is Red

Well, that's not the ONLY thing that's red.
Red is also the colour of Chinese New Year and Taylor Swift's favourite lippie it seems! I'm going through such an odd Taylor Swift phase, her album is my background music when I'm digitally painting.

For the past couple of years I've been trying to draw a thing for Valentine's Day which I have affectionately renamed 'Senpai notice me Day' because why not try extra hard to get that special someone to notice you on Valentine's Day? He can only be so oblivious right?

Sadly this little gem didn't come as a card.

David and I decided to spend Valentine's weekend in Huddersfield with my sister. Sick of dragging a suitcase, I traveled in true brand whore style with my Alice and the Pirates bag xD
Valentine's Day itself was spent with my sister which was totally not romantic and we decided to go out to Tokyo's with her and good lord, it was AWFUL! Well and truly awful!

However, we made up for it the next day with a lovely Italian meal in the restaurant we went to last year and a film. Kingsmen: Secret Service is a fantastic film!

What do you think or when you think of the colour red?

Downton Abbey

Recently I started spending my evenings curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea watching Downton Abbey. I am the MOST exciting 21 year old!
I couldn't help but ask myself three questions:

1. Why am I such a little old lady at heart?
2. Why is Maggie Smith so fantastic?
3. Where has this been all my life???

I was curious because I heard that they talk about places like Ripon and Thirsk and lets face it, unless you're from North Yorkshire you don't even know that somewhere like Thirsk exists! Usually when I tell someone I'm from Thirsk they're like 'you're from where now?'
But anyway, I found myself REALLY enjoying it! There are characters I love, characters I love to hate and characters I ship.

I'm also in love with the costumes. Period costumes are so beautiful. I love the empire waists and embellishments.

Period fashion.

Downton is a masterpiece and I will keep watching and wishing I lived there. Lady Rachel has a nice ring right?

Cora: Are we to be friends, then? Me: We are allies my dear, which can be a good deal more effective.

Wise words from the Dowager herself.

Innocent Chaos

Oops...big gap.
So I've been at Innocent Chaos for three weeks now and so far it has been a blast! Over Christmas everyone home was asking 'what is Innocent Chaos? What do they do?' and when I tried to explain I don't think my first gen Chinese relatives *really* got it. My cousin was on board though, she'd been considering a brooch bouquet for her wedding.

Short answer to the question - We make brooch bouquets.
Longer answer - We spend a lot of time sourcing brooches and and prepping beads and pearls to make beautiful brooch bouquets that you can keep forever!

However, Sharon also makes a lot of lovely jewellery and accessories and sometimes she'll style weddings too!

During the first week I did a lot of prep work with beans and wire and drank CRAZY amounts of tea! I'm really happy to be doing a lot of making, it's been really fun and it rekindled my love for making things.

During the first week we also did a photo shoot at AM:PM with Weddings at Tiffany's featuring three different looks.

Much excited to see what else I'll get up to but I'm just simply loving the creativity, tea, biscuits and being surrounded by pretty things plus Sharon and Ciara [from Wedding's at Tiffany's] are SO much fun!

New year, same me

Oh my...I didn't think my next post would be in 2015... sorry ^^'
If it means anything, I didn't really get up to anything significant in December. However, I did find my return to England for Christmas was full of complaints haha. But really, I understand that England is a lot bigger than Northern Ireland but why are our train tickets SO, SO expensive?! I really missed Belfast while I was away. Mainly the fact that it had EVERYTHING.

Being home for Christmas was nice, in fact, it made me feel homesick when I got back to Belfast ^^'
I got a lot of money over Christmas which I have half promised myself NOT to spend on brand (in which case it will be spent on food), tea, food, amazing cat shaped cookie cutters (meow meow meow!) and strangely enough, two bottles of Vodka! I don't really drink much but thank you! They will be great for making Penne a la Vodka! xD

2014 was actually a really good year for me. I'd seen some lovely places, met some amazing people, eaten lots of food, married some waifus and adopted some specials so I have high hopes for this year. As for a new year's resolution, I didn't make one. Overall I just want to make this year as fun, fulfilling and colourful as possible!

So far I have started a new internship at Innocent Chaos (blog about what I've been getting up to will come later!) and am still watching anime. Hopefully there will be a bit more to share in the coming weeks ^^'

For now please enjoy my cat shaped biscuits!
