Loving Him is Red

Well, that's not the ONLY thing that's red.
Red is also the colour of Chinese New Year and Taylor Swift's favourite lippie it seems! I'm going through such an odd Taylor Swift phase, her album is my background music when I'm digitally painting.

For the past couple of years I've been trying to draw a thing for Valentine's Day which I have affectionately renamed 'Senpai notice me Day' because why not try extra hard to get that special someone to notice you on Valentine's Day? He can only be so oblivious right?

Sadly this little gem didn't come as a card.

David and I decided to spend Valentine's weekend in Huddersfield with my sister. Sick of dragging a suitcase, I traveled in true brand whore style with my Alice and the Pirates bag xD
Valentine's Day itself was spent with my sister which was totally not romantic and we decided to go out to Tokyo's with her and good lord, it was AWFUL! Well and truly awful!

However, we made up for it the next day with a lovely Italian meal in the restaurant we went to last year and a film. Kingsmen: Secret Service is a fantastic film!

What do you think or when you think of the colour red?

Heat Wave Holiday

So at the end of June/ beginning of July I started a collection of biro illustrations and I've finally got round to working on one of them in Photoshop. It's been a while since I last coloured using Photoshop. It took a while to get used to my graphics tablet again but slowly and surely, I've been getting there.

I've actually got to the point where I'm nearly done so I thought I'd share the process.

Using the CamScanner app I 'scanned' the drawing. It took a while to get it to this stage but this app is pretty good.

I cleaned up the line art a little and then painted in the base colours in a new layer (multiply). I then layered on the shadows (multiply) and then some highlights (lighten).
I usually avoid painting backgrounds, mainly because I'm not very good at them, but today I tried! So this is where I've left it at for today. There are still some touches to added but I'm fairly happy so far!

This was drawn during a freakishly hot day and was inspired by 熱浪假期 by Twins and right now I'm huddled up in fleece pyjamas. it's freezing! I hope summer hasn't given up...

Peng Peng

FINALLY finished my penguin bedding project. I was super excited to begin with and I wish the enthusiasm stayed with me but about three weeks in and I was getting bored. Thank god I don't get bored of everything this quickly.

I'm actually really pleased with my final designs so here they are for sharing ^^

Enjoy the penguins! 'Sophisticated Penguins' is my favourite. What about yours?

Allllpacpacpacpacpac: the Alpacalypse!

The 24th and 25th August marked the birth of ONECon!
The first day was a bit quiet for me in terms of being an artist but as promised, it was full of geeky goodness!

Meta goodness!

The guy who sold me my alpacas back at Q-Con was here too. He recognised me and wanted to know how I got all 3 alapacas home ^^'
I' have save so much money and hassle if I knew he'd be coming to ONECon!!!!

SOOOOOOO Many alpacas!

More Meta goodness for Sunday!

The sales rose lotsies today much to my delight! I was so busy with commissions!

Thank you to all the lovely people who commissioned me! You are effectively putting money towards my Frock On fund haha xD
No really, I am really happy that you like my art <3

It's Time To Duel!

I decided for (for the second time since starting uni) to make it through the first Yu-Gi-Oh series and have so far made it to the fourth season (yes, the one with the motorcycles!) so we're nearly there!
While in the process I started drawing again and churned out quite a nice piece if traditional fan art.

A conversation soon flowed about how cute these little Scapegoats would be to cosplay which gave birth to this concept

I started to really enjoy using watercolours for a change, before this all my manga illustrations were digital and now that I look back on a lot of them, they are quite flat.

I was also introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Drinking Game
We played to Episode 121 and my only comment is dammit Kaiba! The number of times that guy says 'card' is unnecessary and bad news for my liver. If you do want to play this, pick a good episode and play responsibly ;)
